There has been plenty of discussion and attention given to the ATF twisting the rules around to fit the current political narrative and agenda.  There have not been any new laws passed by our legislative branch of governement that would change anything regarding an AR15 pistol.  However, many are concerned that the ATF will attempt to change the long standing rules as it relates to pistol and pistol braces concerning AR15 weapons.  There are an estimated 30 -40 million AR15 legal pistols in the United States that may be affected.  We think you should convert an AR15 pistol.

Getting ahead of it

The most important thing that we are doing at Western Sport is to get ahead of this possible rule change and battle in the courts.  There are several things that you can do as an owner of an AR15 Pistol that are worth looking into.  If you wait until it all happens, it will limit your options as time will run out on your ability to alter the firearm.  There are simply not enough service providers in the United States that hold the necessary Federal Firearms License to be able to take in your firearm and make changes to it for you.  So, I would get started on this process sooner rather than later.  Many people are already doing these things to prepare for what is most likely coming.

Converting

Pistols have barrels shorter than 16 inches.  So, if you make a change to your barrel to get it to 16 inches, or longer, you are converting it from a pistol to a rifle.  Then you no longer have a targeted AR15 Pistol by the ATF.  There are some creative ways that this can be done.  You can simply remove the short barrel and install a 16 inch or longer barrel.  Here at Western Sport we do those changes for you in our Gunsmith Shop.  We also can show you a creative way to convert your pistol to a rifle by permanently attaching a suppressor to that short barrel and getting the over all length of the barrel and suppressor to 16 inches or longer.

For years we have been suppressing rifles and pistols for hearing protection and safety.  Now you can combine your suppressor with the AR15 and make it a dedicated suppressor to move the AR15 out of the pistol classification and into a rifle category.  Bonus is that it is now a rifle and you can put whatever butt stock on it that you please.  You also can run a vertical fore-grip if you would like.

You are in Control

We believe this places the gun owner in control of how they will best adapt and adjust to new rules that are coming without new legislative laws.  There will be millions of United States Citizens that will be forced to make changes and most likely pay $200 Tax Stamps for the currently legal AR15 pistols that they own.  This would be the intended reaction that your current government wants to impose on gun owners.  We think it would be more beneficial for the gun owners in America to make the changes now to improve thier firearms for that $200 tax stamp in a different way.

Purchase a suppressor for your AR15 pistol and have it permanently attached by Western Sport in Roanoke, Texas.  No matter where you live in the United States, it can be shipped to us in Texas to do the work for you.  If you already own a suppressor for it, then you are that much further ahead.  But we believe if you are forced to pay $200 and be placed in some type of government database register, it should be for a suppressor and not for a AR15 pistol or Short Barrel Rifle.

Database

If you wait and have to register your pistol as a Short Barrel Rifle, it means that the government will have a database of the firearm that you own.  It will be tied to your personal residence.  In this day of data breeches and government over reach, you can bet that having your firearm in a database is not a good thing.  However, if you permantly attach a suppressor to your pistol and get it to the magical 16 inch length or longer, the only thing in any database is the suppressor.  Most people looking at that distinct difference would agree that they would rather be on the list with a safety item like a suppressor.
